Chess mini series "The queen's gambit" among the most watched on Netflix

This year’s hit on Netflix became the chess series “The Queen’s Gambit”, which picked up critics epithets like “best series of the year”. The series is based on the 1983 novel of the same name by Walters Tevis.

From the chess point of view, the series has been prepared very carefully and the chess details have been brought to a high level, which is not surprising because former world champion Garry Kasparov and renowned American coach Bruce Pandolfini were hired to prepare the series.

Series is set in the 1960s in the United States. The main character in the series is Elisabeth Harmon (Anya Taylor-Joy) who lost her parents as a nine-year-old and ended up in an orphanage where she discovered she had huge potential for chess, which she demonstrated later in numerous tournaments where she defeated the world's best players.

We bring you a game from the movie where Elisabeth Harmon played against world champion Vasily Borgov. The game is a slightly modified version of the actual game between Ivanchuk - Wolff played in 1993 in Biel.
